Car Parking

The world's first EN 50545-1 car park system.

Vehicles emit CO and NO2 during start-up. These gases can accumulate in parking areas and closed areas. For health and safety reasons, you should constantly check CO and NO2 gases in these areas. CO can poison beyond 30 ppm and cause deaths. NO2 is dangerous after 3 ppm. If the ventilation in these areas is not sufficient, CO and NO2 gases may reach high concentration levels and cause serious damage such as nausea and vomiting.

Underground parking gas detection is placed for environmental safety and energy saving. We should not forget that ventilation systems use a significant amount of electricity if they operate continuously. Let's do a calculation. A 9000m2 car park consumes 245.000kw annually with 12 hours of operation. This is a high cost! That's why responsible people want to use a cost-effective solution to be careful in parking lots. It is an economical solution to open the ventilation system only if there is gas accumulation. Only a gas detection system is installed that does not consume a significant amount of electricity and the fans turn on when there is a dangerous build-up. As a rough estimate, the annual electricity use of the ventilation system in the 9000 m2 parking lot falls to 45.000kw. 200.000kw can be saved in a year!

The European Electrotechnical Standardization Committee has published "EN 50545-1" standards for the detection and measurement of toxic and flammable gases in car parks and tunnels. This standard has been created for dangers and energy savings in car parks. We have perfectly designed a gas detection system according to this standard and approved by an accredited organization.

Another important issue is that you need a complete system of panels and other components because car parks must monitor each zone individually according to "EN 50545-1".  If the gas accumulates only in one area, you do not need to turn on all the fans. You can only turn on the necessary fan to distribute the gas. Simple and smart! PPS + series detectors have built-in RS 485 (Modbus) communication protocol, which is a great advantage for wiring and installation. Prosense PPS + series gas detectors can be connected to the gas control panel that we specially developed for parking lots.

The PPS Manager gas control panel can have up to 4 zone modules, and each zone can control 32 detectors. A fully loaded PPS Manager supports 128 different detectors. The flammable gas detector must be powered from an external power supply as its power requirements differ from toxin gas detectors. However, PPS Manager can recognize all of them automatically. There is no need to make a special setting for each detector.

Make sure that the parking gas detection system "PPS +" is a cost-effective solution for Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide properly "EN 50545-1". Prosense additionally designed the PPS series to control CO, NO2, and LPG gas in parking garages.
