Wastewater

Reliable detection for H2S, CH4, NH3, SO2, O2, and CO gases.

Water Treatment facilities prevent pollution and diseases by treating wastewater before it is released to the environment. Toxic and flammable gases are released in certain processes that are followed to purify water. They are potentially dangerous at a certain concentration. Thus, a reliable gas detection system is essential to protect personnel, facilities and the environment.

The most common gas hazards in water treatment plants are:

Methane: Typically produced during sludge decomposition. Monitoring of CH4 should be provided in raw sewage and sludge entering dewatering systems, anaerobic digesters, cogeneration and wet/dry wells.

Hydrogen Sulfide: H2S is both naturally occurring and produced in wastewater treatment. It is very important to control H2S in sewers, sludge dewatering systems, anaerobic digesters and wet/dry wells.

Ammonia, Ozone, Chlorine: They are toxic gases released during the decontamination phase of wastewater treatment and water treatment plants. You should place gas detectors close to storage tanks and process areas.

Carbon dioxide: It replaces the oxygen that causes suffocation and affects the respiratory capacity. In wastewater treatment, it is primarily produced during sludge separation and Biogas production. You should monitor CO2 in sludge entering raw sewage and dewatering systems, anaerobic digesters, cogeneration plants and wet/dry wells.

Prosense gas detectors are designed to continuously monitor all these gases and protect people, facilities and the environment. Especially PQD gas detectors offer efficiency in operation and maintenance for these applications.

Note: We strongly recommend that you read the "Differences of IR and Pellistor sensors" before deciding on detectors for water treatment plants.
